Solar trackers are mounting systems that rotate the
solar panels to follow the sun from east to west.

Government and solar test facilities agree that dual axis
tracking systems in Canada can improve the electricity production(and income) by 30 - 35% over fixed mount systems.

Following The Sun All Day

Dual axis trackers maximize revenue potential by following the true path of the sun all year including the east / west movement, as well as the seasonal changes vertically.

Not All Trackers Are Created Equal

Engineers researched the available competing trackers on the market and were concerned about the structural problems that existed.

The most common problems were

• The structure had been expanded from a small scale tracker to hold more panels without the necessary structural frame upgrades.

• The base was insufficient for the surface area exposed to the wind.

• The base inground support design was too small to support an above ground base.

• The tracker was completely reliant on mechanically tilting out of the wind to protect itself. A frozen anemometer, a rodent chewing a sensor cable or a defective motor could leave the tracker facing wind conditions it was not designed for. The result would be panels ripped from the structure and structural damage.

• The frame would not support a heavy snow load in the horizontal position.

• Panel supporting members deflected over 3.25” at 50km/hr winds

• Aluminum was used instead of steel.

• The solar panels used were experimental models.

• Gusting winds could defeat the leveling mechanism.

The Atrax™ tracker was designed to be significantly better than existing systems, based on eight key principles:

• The ATRAX™ Tracker Exceeds The Ontario Content Requirements!

• The structure must be able to secure and support any solar panels to provide customers with the best value.

• The tracker must be able to withstand 130Km/hr winds even when the structure is left vertical, should all backup systems fail.

• The solar panel support frame deflection in high winds must be less than 1/16” to provide long panel life.

• Trackers over 5Kw must have a rear offset support system to stiffen the flat front solar panel support.

• The frame must be hot dip galvanized steel to provide a long service life.

• The tracking system must provide long term reliable service.

• The panel support rails should be steel for durablility.

• The tracker must be a dual axis system.

How The Atrax™ DUAL AXIS Tracker works

The tracker will be facing east in the morning as the day starts. The dual axis design allows the tracker to move to any required position vertically and horizontally. As the sun rises, the Atrax™ Bright Track™ system monitors the strongest energy available. It then moves the array to the best angle. Throughout the day the system is constantly automatically adjusted to the best position.

In the event of high wind conditions the WINDMASTER™ cushion system allows the entire array to tilt back. The stronger the gust, the farther it leans back, eventually returning to the original position as the wind eases up.

As winds approach 70Km/hr the array automatically levels out. Copperhill provides complete warranty management

for customers!  Your system must be designed and built to withstand the severe and changing conditions of the Ontario environment. The solar panels, inverters, tracker and all mechanisms all come with 20-25 YR warranties. Our commissioning teams will ensure your system remains operational.
